My practice travel to Edinburgh last week was very good. I managed the rucksack and all my needs in it, and learned a few tips for myself like have essential needs in a bum bag or small bag at the front!
I met some nice people, stayed with my friend’s neighbour in the spare room for two nights, and managed to get up to Loch Ness and round trip via Fort William and Glencoe too with Experience Tours via Trip Advisor. 12 hour day but well worth the cost and effort (only £47) with Murray, our driver in a kilt, telling us the history of the areas and the country too.
My room with the neighbour, right off The Royal Mile in Edinburgh ..
I visited the castle of course, Holyrood outside at least, tartan and whisky shops everywhere, and met some friendly local Scots and visited the pub too!
The lochs including the vast Loch Ness and glens and mountains did not disappoint me, as I love the dramatic scenery like this …
Loch Ness 23 m long, 1000 ft deep and 1.7 miles wide at one point, with Urqhart Castle on the banks …
and other beautiful lochs we visited along the way to stretch our legs and photos!
The glens and mountains of Glencoe,
including Ben Nevis …
