Being ‘In the moment’

In the moment, mindfulness, awareness – drinking it all in tomhold on to the memory…

I recently read something about travellers, one point of which stated living in tne moment, drinking in the scenes you may never see again or at least for a while. True. We do.

Sitting here now, at 4.20 on Tuesday on Kohha-Ngan, I leave tomorrow so am taking in the glittering sunset waters of the sea, the silhouettes against it of small boats and umbrellas out in the sea, on the sandbank, the palm tree rstling in the gentle warm breeze and the sound of birds, a distant boat motor, the creak of my hammock on its hooks and the occasional flurry and flap of my drying towel on the back of the seat beside me. I can see gentle slow riples onto the shore from the ‘lagoon’ and the wooden huts in the water to lie on. The yellow sand in the dusky light, but mostly the white shiny rippling wayer both on the horizon and toward the shore as the sun begins to set. It really is stunning.

I ache at the beauty!! (Have you ever felt that?) I ache to leave this behind, too…

later that evening as the sun set over Koh Pha-Ngan...

The sun sets about 6 pm here, and this treat for my last night on the island...
