Cairo is a city on it’s own!
The noise is constant and loud, irritating to some people like my sister with me.
The tip is you need ‘ you need a good horn, good brakes and good luck’ to drive there! With 35,000 people in the city and most have cars, there are taxis some more iffy than others but all seem to get around without too many bumps and accidents, at least major ones!
It also happens on the Nile too with ships/boats all using their horns to say hello, move out of the way and more.
It is really more or less a concrete jungle with the Nile running through it, little if any green spaces – parks, trees etc. Lots of religious buildings everywhere, plus the tourist sites of Giza and the museums, and the numerous hotels and housing.
Lots of flyovers too it seems.
The ‘New Cairo’ is being built outside the current city limits – the new ‘administration centre’ perhaps making the sensible distance between the tourism and homes and offices etc.
