Prague in the Czech Republic

From my memories of the Iron Curtain republic, it was a surprise to find such a lovely city to visit, many go more than once and I can see why. I would definitely go back, especially now I know my way around the relatively small centre and Old Town focus.

What to see

From the first bridge Charles Bridge, ornate, long, wide and leading to a lovely Bohemia town on the other side of the river, to the latest building designs, the churches hosting music festivals and curious cuisine like Trdelník – chimney cake 9too sweet for me and too big!) and their heavy meaty and dumpling dish, goulash from that area and which I loved having for lunch at school, not so much in Prague restaurant! Found it too much, too heavy, too grisly at times.

The Old Town is a mile around apparently and still we managed to get lost in the first couple of days until we realised where we were and that Wenceleslas Square was the long, wide shopping avenue we were staying just off!

We found the station, the display area of the Square, the churches and Saturday evening social centre square that was lovely and busy, discovered alone by accident – along with the famous and fascinating astronomical clock Prague is famous for.

Some pretty places, warm weather, modern shops and historical buildings – not to mention fun places to visit like the Museum of Fantastic Illusions that one friend in particular was thrilled by. See pictures here!

Nice restaurants, not as cheap as expected but where it today?

People friendly on he surface, not sure beneath but pleasant, polite and friendly, helpful that we met – walking, exploring, shopping, hotel.
